Clare Viney – CEO, CRAC/Vitae

Clare is a Chartered Scientist and Chemist with over 20 years’ experience in the science community and not-for-profit sector. She is passionate about investing in future generations and those from diverse backgrounds and experiences, empowering people to realise their potential and achieve their career and development goals.

CRAC provides research, intelligence and innovation to all those who support the career development of people of all ages and in all sectors. We work in partnership with government agencies, education organisations and providers and employers and professional bodies. A registered UK charity, CRAC has been operating since 1964. In higher education we manage Vitae, the global leader in supporting the career and professional development of researchers, working with governments and 200 institutions in 23 countries.

Prior to her role at CRAC, Clare was with the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) for 16 years ensuring that the RSC remains the most influential voice for chemistry in the UK, Europe and beyond.


Jen Reynolds – Professional Development Manager, Vitae

Jen Reynolds is a Professional Development Manager at Vitae, building and sustaining the relationships between Vitae and UK and international higher education institutions. She has a keen interest in professional development and professional development planning and is the key contact for the Vitae RDF and Planner, providing services to institutional subscribers such as training sessions, webinars and demonstrations to highlight its uses and benefits to researchers and professionals involved with researcher development. Jen also manages a range of researcher development projects (recent work includes a project to develop a new professional framework for researcher developers, managing a pilot researcher developer recognition scheme, running the researcher developer mentoring pilot and a variety of international projects) and is involved with the development of new resources to enhance provision for researchers. Jen also manages the UK HR Excellence in Research Award process, working with institutions, the UK panel, peer reviewers and the European Commission.


Victoria Helmer, Learning and Development programme manager, CRAC/Vitae

Tori is Vitae’s Learning and Development Manager, responsible for the delivery of Vitae’s researcher development training programmes.  In addition to delivering Vitae training on career development to some of their international clients, she also manages the delivery of our large-scale projects both in the UK and further afield.  Most recently, she has been working on projects for clients in Poland, Spain and a UK government department.
